This bed set patterned with floral bouquets is inspired by a sample of a brocaded tabby, a woven silk, held in the V&A�s national collection of textiles and fashion. The material may have been intended as a furnishing fabric and was produced in Valencia in 1875.
Coloured in a palette of soft summer shades the reverse reveals a charming print of floral sprigs and polka dots.
The collection also includes a housewife pillowcase (shown at the back of the bed) with a shadow pattern, curtains and floral quilted throwover, accessorised with a boudoir cushion featuring naive embroidery of hearts and laurel wreaths.
